It is one of the best ways to interact with prospective employers.In today's world, many are beginning to use social media to stay in touch with friends and colleagues. The more popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter have not only become 'a place to share photos and make new friends,' but they are also valuable tool for career advancement. Even major corporations are beginning to use Twitter. For example, Red Lobster, a famous restaurant chain, recently launched a website that allows restaurant-goers to review their experience at the restaurant.Social media is the new tool for career advancement. Since so many employees now work from home, using Twitter can actually be a better way to communicate with your boss. In fact, a survey has shown that many employers are paying their workers to use Twitter and Facebook to find new opportunities. Using these sites is actually just a way to set up an online portfolio. If you have a good portfolio, this will actually help your resume get more exposure. A portfolio is basically a resume that contains job samples that illustrate your abilities. Your employer knows that you are the person they are looking for and having a good portfolio will help you land that job.Google is the best resource for building your portfolio. The more work you do on Google+ the more likely you are to start getting better results. In the mean time, you can use these same skills on Twitter, where you can use hashtags to quickly connect with other users.As an example, I'm currently building my resume through Google Docs. All of my job experiences have been listed, including technical descriptions and a portfolio that illustrate my strengths and weaknesses.
